As it's the end of the academic year for students, it's always nice to go out and have fun with everyone before parting ways for summer.
On a few occasions now I've gone for a movie and burger in the centre of Birmingham, and all for around a tenner thanks to some handy vouchers. As students, we all like to save a bit of buck where we can!

I'm not sure if this is a national thing but on the back of the movie tickets from the Odeon New Street there's a "buy one burger or salad and get another for £1" offer for the Handmade Burger Co., valid for one month after screening. I'd only ever been once before to the Birmingham branch but remembered it being a damn good burger, so was more than happy to go and utilise the offer!
If you can't choose (there are so many options on the menu!) I can wholeheartedly recommend what I've tried.
Pictured first above, there's the Mexican burger- handmade Mexican salsa, crushed avocado, fresh tortilla chips, jalapeƱos, chipotle sauce, lettuce, tomato and red onion. The tortilla chips went a bit soggy but otherwise it was really tasty and the spice of the jalapeƱos really give it a good kick! Burger two was the Avocado and Bacon burger- basically what it says on the tin! Crushed avocado, smoked bacon, handmade burger relish, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and red onion. This burger managed to lead to a near death experience- for future reference, just cut off the bacon fat if there's any left on instead of muscling through, or else you might end up having a choking fit (think you can work out what happened there! Scary stuff.).
On a separate visit I got the Peppered Beef burger: A burger with a flat mushroom, caramelised red onion relish, peppercorn sauce, mayonnaise, rocket, tomato and red onion, topped with a couple of onion rings. DELICIOUS. Like, seriously good and my favourite so far. With the addition of bacon, basically everything I like is in this burger. We opted to try the brioche bun (you can ask to switch to this free of charge when ordering) and it complemented the hot peppery sauce and sweet relish well.
Next on my list for a cinema trip is 22 Jump Street, and I am ridiculously excited for the release of How to Train Your Dragon 2 at the start of July!
Recently I've been super busy sorting everything out for a holiday to Malaysia taking off next Wednesday! Planning on doing a pretty substantial amount of blogging on it so I can keep all the memories together, and I cannot wait.
Oh wow those burgers look delicious! I'm craving a burger and chips now! I'm a big fan of gourmet burger kitchen. They sound like a similar place but they do sweet potato fries with bacon dip which are to die for x
